THE TIMES, THE PETAL NEWS, THE ADVERTISER NEWS Thursday, December 27, 2001 Obituaries FROM PAGE 3SMJ EVA RUTH TURNER HATTIESBURG Graveside services were held December 15, 2001, at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian for Mrs. Eva Ruth Turner, 104, of Hattiesburg (formerly of Meridian), who died December 12, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Meridian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wesley M.

Turner. Survivors were a son, Dr. Charles W. Turner of Sun City Center, Fl; her caregiver, Mrs. Don "Jackie" Page of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. GEORGE W. McMURRY PETAL Services were held December 14, 2001, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home for Mr. George W. McMurry, 85, of Petal, who died December 12, 2001, at Petal Conva-Rest.

Interment was at Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. McMurry was a former superintendent for Clinton Lumber Co. and Orbit Oil was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Petal and was a World War II Army Air Corp Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Lillie McMurry of Petal; two sons, Gary W.

McMurry of Petal and Dale L. McMurry of Brandon; two sisters, Mildred Smith of Petal and Margaret Parrett of Stockton, a brother, Hugh W. McMurry of Henderson Point; and one granddaughter. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Petal Building Fund. Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LORA G. TEETERS HATTIESBURG Services were held December 13, 2001, at Hulett-Winstead Chapel for Mrs. Lora G. Teeters, 91, of Hattiesburg, who died December 11, 2001, at Covington County Hospital. Interment was at Providence Cemetery.

Mrs. Teeters was: retired LPN lat member Methodist of Hospital Providence and was a Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons, Walter Hamilton of Houston, Texas, Edwin Hamilton of Jackson, John L. Hamilton and Gene Hamilton, both of Hattiesburg; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

HERBERT L. GRIFFIN OVETT Services were held December 19, 2001, at Jones Funeral Home in Moselle for Herbert Lee Griffin, 67, of Ovett, who died December 17, 2001, at Forrest General Hospital. Interment was at Union Church Cemetery. Mr. Griffin was a mechanic and a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Charles and Estella Lepard; a son, Herbie Griffin of Sumrall; three daughters, Beverly Williamson of Sumrall, Darlene Graham of Ovett, and Angie Anderson of Moss Point; a sister, Earlene Patterson of Moselle; a brother, the Rev. Kenneth Griffin Valley, his fiance, Earline Walters of Ovett; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. MARY F. HARTLEY PURVIS Services were held December E18, 2001, at Mobile Memorial Gar- dens Funeral Home for Mary Frances Hartley of Purvis, formerly of Mobile, who died December 16, 2001, at her family residence.

Interment was at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hartley was a member of Church of God at Bellevue. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Hartley.

Survivors include a son, Bobby D. Hartley of. Meridian; two daughters, Debbie Mays of Birmingham, and Tami Hamilton of Purvis; a brother, William H. Callaway of Mobile; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. LUCILLE LITTLE HATTIESBURG Services were held December 19, 2001, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg for Lucille Little, 82, of Hattiesburg, who died December 17, 2001, at Forrest General Hospital.

Interment was at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Little was a homemaker. Survivors include a son, Tobert Reed of Enterprise, and a sister, Helen Krebs of Hattiesburg. LURLINE MANGUM HATTIESBURG Services were held December 20, 2001, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg for Lurline Swilley Mangum, 90, of Hattiesburg, who died December 16, 2001, at Bedford Care Center.

Interment was a Roseland Park Cemetery. Mrs. Mangum was a homemaker and a member of Fist Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Mangum Sr.

Survivors include a son, J.W. Mangum of Hattiesburg; four grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. ODELL DANIELS PRENTISS Services were held December 19, 2001, at South Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church for Odell Williams, 88, of Prentiss, who died December 12, 2001, at Forrest General Hospital. Interment was at South Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs.

Daniels was a homemaker and a member of South Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Brown of Los Angeles, Calif. and Lillian Barnes of Prentiss; one son, Willie C. Daniels of Detroit, and one sister, Willie M. Oatis of Prentiss.

BONITA HANCOCK TAYLORSVILLE Services were held December 19, 2001, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Taylorsville for Bonita Hancock, 47, of Taylorsville, who died December 16, 2001, at her residence. Interment was at Matthews Cemetery in Jones County. Mrs. Hancock was a disabled licensed practical nurse at Raleigh Hospital and was a member of Providence Primitive Baptist Church in Jasper Co. Survivors include her husband, Blake Hancock of Taylorsville; her mother, Dorothy Hegwood of Taylorsville; one son, Joe Ulland of Meridian; one daughter, Jessie Hester of Taylorsville; three brothers, Charles Hegwood, Ben Hegwood and Lynn Hegwood, all of Taylorsville; and four grandchildren.

MARTHA A. HOPKINS SAUCIER Services were held December 18, 2001, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel for Martha Ann Hopkins, 76, of Saucier, who died December 15, 2001, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. Interment was at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Smith County. Mrs. Hopkins was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of Christian Workshop Center in Lyman.

Wilson was retired director of communications for the City of Birmingham, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
