A collection from Members of the Southern Mississippi Art Association will be exhibited Downtown as well. Sculptors Chris Lee and James Davis will be showing their works at Impressions Gallery. Several of the downtown restaurants will be available for dining with some exhibiting art as well. 206 Front will hold a series of Art Talks on the hour every hour during the event for about twenty minutes each.

Ther discussions will be led by the artists themselves and serve as an entertaining yet educational component of this year's festivities. Andrew Blanchard, a native from Mississippi who received his BA from USM with emphasis on printmaking, is currently showing at the First Center for the Arts in Nashville and will also be exhibiting his work. "I enjoy working with themes on travel, as well as more personal issues, such as the relationships in my life," said Blanchard. The NMWA is located in Washington D. C.

with the purpose of The Gallery Association, Hattiesburg Arts Council, and Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association will host the Art Walk on Saturday, October 5, 2002 from 5-8 p.m. in Downtown Hattiesburg galleries, shops, and restaurants. This event will showcase artwork from native Mississippians as well as national and international artists. Downtown Hattiesburg will come alive with works from such artists as renowned printmaker Andrew Blanchard and accomplished oil painter Stephen Strickland, both graduates of USM's Art Department. They will exhibit their pieces at 206 Front.

A Gallery will showcase works by a variety of women artists from across the state of Mississippi as part of the Mississippi Committee of National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) on the Thursday before The Art Walk through the end of the month. Music will be a key component of the night's events with classical and contemporary pieces performed by Franklin Gail Albert, owner of A Gallery on Main Street, will display works by artists around the state at the gallary walk this weekend. bringing recognition to women artists from all nationalities. The Mississippi Slate Committee desires to increase art education in schools, expand its membership and exhibitions throughout Mississippi, and support: the NMWA Patch Program for Girl Scouts of the USA. Provisional members will observe projects for the first year. Also the Junior Auxiliary is preparing for its 25th annual charity ball on November 8 at the Hattiesburg Lake Terrace Convention Center. The ball consists of special, entertainment, a silent buffet and a band.
